Babe Kleiman Harold "Babe" Kleiman
Baseball, Basketball, Football 1946-50

Kleiman, a star in baseball, basketball and football, earned 12 varsity letters at Ferris from 1946-50 and received the Jack Dempsey Trophy in 1947 as the "Best Athlete of the Year." He taught at Gladstone High School for 29 years, was an assistant junior varsity football coach for 11 years and also served as a basketball referee before retiring in 1985. The Bark River native joined the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame this past April. He was a standout town team baseball player and was known as one of Ferris' toughest athletes ever.
