FSU PLACES RUNNER UP AT FINDLAY INVITE; CONCLUDES FALL SEASON

Bulldogs Have Three of The Tourney's Top Seven Finishers

Freshman Missy Ward was among three of the Findlay Invitational's top seven individual finishers.
The Ferris State women's golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2004-05 season by firing a 329 in Monday's (Oct. 4) final round at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic to claim runner-up honors with a 643 team score (+67).

Grand Valley State won the tournament with a two-round 635-stroke total (+59), which included a 327 final-round tally on the par 72, 5,636-yard Redhawk Run Golf Course in Arlington, Ohio. A season ago (Sept. 28-29) at the Findlay Invite, the Bulldogs recorded a first-place 638 team score with rounds of 327 and 311, respectively.

The Bulldogs, who had three of the tourney's top seven individual finishers, shot a 314 in Sunday's (Oct. 3) opening round at the Sycamore Springs Golf Course.

Junior Elena Robles attained second-place honors with a 156 (78-78--156, +12), three shots behind tourney champion Melissa Sneller of Grand Valley State (153).

Freshman Yasuyo Kiyota finished in a two-way tie for fourth place by carding a 161 (76-85--161, +17). Freshman Missy Ward was two strokes back at 163 (80-83--163, +19) to garner a sixth-place tying finish. Sophomores Casey McKinnon and Heidi Aittama both tied for eighth by virtue of their 164 (80-84--164, +20) scores. Rounding out the scoring for FSU was freshman Becky Hoffman, who notched a 170 (80-90--170, +26) to tie for 16th place.

Senior Meredith Johnson turned in an 18th-place tying 173 score (85-88--173, +29) peformance while participating as a non-scoring individual.
