Robles Ties For Second Individually To Lead Ferris State

Sophomore Elena Robles tied for second place at the Western Michigan Bronco Invitational with a 36-hole 155 score.
The Ferris State women's golf team recorded a third-place showing at the Western Michigan Bronco Invitational with a 650 team score on the par 72, 5,954-yard The Moors Golf Club course in Portage, Mich.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the 36-hole event at 66 strokes over par as FSU shot an opening-round 326 score Sunday (April 11) and then followed with a 324 in Monday's (April 12) final-round play.

Host Western Michigan defended its tournament title as the Broncos led throughout and concluded with a 39-over par 623 team (314-309--623) score. Finishing one stroke in front of Ferris was Grand Valley State, which shot a combined 649 (325-324--649, +65) for two rounds.

Leading the way for Ferris State was sophomore Elena Robles, who tied two others for second-place honors with a nine-over par 155 score (76-79--155). Robles' placing represented a personal season best as she has claimed top team individual honors in each of the Bulldogs' last three tournaments to date.

Sophomore Casey McKinnon finished in 12th place following a 161 total (83-78--161, +15) while senior Ellie Saladin placed in a four-way tie for 14th after carding a 163 score (82-81--163, +17).

Freshman Heidi Aittama's 171-stroke total (85-86--171, +25) tied her for 33rd place and junior Meredith Johnson tied three others with a 174 (86-88--174, +28) to tie for 41st place. Freshman Kelley Wilkinson participated as a non-scoring individual and wound up with a 57th-place 198 score (103-95--198, +57).
