FSU'S KATHRYN BOBBIE QUALIFIES FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Bulldogs Conclude Season With A Third-Place Regional Finish
Ferris State closed out its 2002-03 campaign at the NCAA Division II East Regional with a third-place showing as the Bulldogs fired a three-round 985 team score (330-327-328) on the Par 72, 6,003-yard Findlay (Ohio) Country Club course.
Ferris State, which needed to be among the top two teams to qualify for the national championships, shot 121 over par as Longwood (Va.) took top honors with a 958 score followed by Grand Valley State's 979-stroke total.  | Kathryn Bobbie will be making her second straight NCAA Division II National Championship appearance. |
Individually, senior Kathryn Bobbie qualified for the nationals for the second straight year as she totaled a 235 score (80-79-76--235, +19) to finish tied for second place. The top two individuals not affiliated with one of the top two qualifiying teams will compete in the NCAA-II Championships, which will be conducted May 14-17 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The championships are being hosted by the Central Florida Sports Commission and the Sunshine State Conference.
Freshman Elena Robles was the Bulldogs' next highest finisher with a fifth-place tying 237 score (81-77-79--237, +21). Seniors Jen Dziabo and Jenn Soltis both placed 22nd and tied for 23rd, respectively. Dziabo fired a three-round 257 (84-87-86--257, +41) while Soltis registered a 259 total ((85-84-90--259, +43). Sophomore Meredith Johnson carded a 266 (90-89-87--266, +50) to garner 27th-place honors.
