The nationally-ranked Ferris State University women's golf team concluded play at the Northern Kentucky Invitational Sunday (March 29) as the Bulldogs carded a 15-over-par 303 score at the par 72, 5,819-yard Perry Park (Ky.) Golf Course to earn third-place plaudits.

FSU, which is presently ranked eighth nationally in the latest (March 25) Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches Poll, was only three strokes behind tourney champion Indianapolis (300, +12) in the rain-shortened tourney. Grand Valley State finished in between Indianapolis and Ferris State with a second-place 301 score (+13) in the 20-team tournament.

The opening round slated for Saturday (March 28) was cancelled as a result of rain.

Senior Meghan Hunter (Dexter) was among six individuals to claim top medalist accolades as she fired an one-over-par 73 score. Freshman Erin Fuchik (Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley) placed in a six-way tie for 12th place by shooting a 76 (+4) as did senior Raquel Hansen (West Olive/Grand Haven) (76, +4).

Senior Alison Meyer (Duluth, Minn./Central) and freshman Bryce Hetchler (Clinton Township/Fraser) both tied for 18th place as a result of producing five-over-par 77-stroke totals.

Freshman Blaize Baumgartner (Perry) was one of eight golfers to shoot a 78 (+6), which proved worthy of a 26th-place tie.
