FSU PLACES SEVENTH AT RAIN-SHORTENED WOLVERINE INVITATIONAL

The nationally-ranked Ferris State women's golf team captured seventh place with a 317-team score this Sunday (Sept. 14) at the 13-team Michigan Wolverine Invitational, which was held at the par 71, 6,098-yard University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Bulldogs finished 34 strokes over par to edge in front of eighth-place Southern Methodist while Kennesaw State was sixth (+33) and Toledo took fifth place (+32). Host Michigan won the tournament with a nine-over par 293-stroke total, 11 strokes in front of runner-up Minnesota (304, +20).
Senior Alison Meyer (Duluth, Minn./Central) led the Bulldogs with a five-over par 76 score to claim a share of 13th place. Freshman Bryce Hetchler (Clinton Township/Fraser) posted a 78 (+7) to tie for 23rd place.
Senior Raquel Hansen's (West Olive/Grand Haven) 10-over par 81-stroke total tied her for 46th place while senior Meghan Hunter (Dexter) gained a share of 58th place after carding an 83 score (+12).
Sophomore Jacqueline Benscoter (Metamorra/Lapeer West) fired a 16-over par 87 score to tie for 67th place.
The tournament was paired down to 18 holes Sunday due to the opening two rounds being canceled as a result of rain and wet course conditions.
