Ferris State Opens Spring Campaign At Rollins Invitational

The Ferris State University women's golf team will open the 2009 spring season ranked ninth by in the first NCAA Division II Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll of the 2009 spring season. The national rankings poll was released Wednesday (March 4).
The Bulldogs recorded 176 points and finished four points behind eighth-place California (Pa.). The poll is a result of the combined resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA. The poll can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.
Ferris State, under the direction of second-year head coach Mike Mignano, concluded the 2008 fall campaign ranked sixth in the nation with a 229 points total.
Florida Southern continued to hold down the number one place position as the Lady Mocs received seven of the 10 first-place votes and recorded 246 points. Nova Southeastern (Fla.) was second with 239 points and received the other three first-place votes. The Bulldogs racked up five top-five place finishes in their seven 2008 fall season tournaments. Ferris State wrapped up the fall portion of their 2008-09 schedule with three consecutive first-place performances -- at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic (Sept. 28-29), Siena Heights Invitational (Oct. 4), and Detroit Titans Invitational (Oct. 6-7).
Ferris State starts its 2009 spring season next week, March 9-10, at the Rollins Invitational in Ocoee, Fla. The Bulldogs are then idle until March 28-29 when FSU takes part in the Northern Kentucky Invitational at Perry Park, Ky.
