FERRIS STATE CONCLUDES FALL SEASON RANKED SIXTH IN THE NATION

Bulldogs Finished Fall Season With Three First-Place Showings

Ferris State is ranked sixth in the third installment of the NCAA Division II Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll of the 2008 fall season, which was released Friday (Oct. 17).

The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). Ferris State, under second-year head coach Mike Mignano, compiled 229 points to remain in sixth place. Tarleton State (Texas) is five points behind the Bulldogs with a seventh-place 224-points total.

Florida Southern moved up into the top position with 292 points and six first-place votes. Rollins (Fla.) is second with 266 points and five first-place votes. Fourth-place Nova Southeastern earned the other lone first-place vote and totaled 257 points.

In the 2008 fall season, Ferris State compiled five top-five place finishes in seven tournaments. The Bulldogs concluded the fall portion of their 2008-09 schedule with three consecutive first-place performances -- at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic (Sept. 28-29), Siena Heights Invitational (Oct. 4), and Detroit Titans Invitational (Oct. 6-7).

Ferris State will open its 2009 spring season March 9-10 at the Rollins Invitational in Ocoee, Fla.
