Bulldogs Listed Eighth Place In The Last Three 2009 Spring Season Polls

The fourth 2009 spring season installment of the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll has the Ferris State University women's golf team listed eighth place of 25 teams to be ranked. The national poll was issued Wednesday (April 22) and will appear in Golf World's April 27th issue.  | Senior Meghan Hunter and the Ferris State women's golf team have now been ranked eighth in the last three national polls. |
Ferris State registered 137 points in this spring season's fourth poll after receiving 141 points in the third 2009 season season poll (April 8). Nova Southeastern (Fla.) continued to occupy the top place with 199 points and seven first-place votes. Florida Southern totaled a second-place 192 points and claimed the one remaining first-place vote.
FSU, which is led by second-year head coach Mike Mignano, was also ranked eighth in the two prior polls (March 25 and April 8). The Bulldogs were ranked ninth with 176 points in the initial 2009 spring season poll (March 4).
The Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll is formulated based upon the combined resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA. The poll can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.
Joining Ferris State as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) representatives in the national poll was Grand Valley State, which earned fifth place with 163 points.
The Bulldogs, who recently turned in a third-place team effort at the Ashland Invitational last weekend (April 17-18), are preparing for the 2009 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships this weekend (April 25-26) in Allendale, Mich. The conference tournament will be conducted at The Meadows Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley State University.
