Bulldogs Move Up One Place In Second Spring Season Poll

The Ferris State University women's golf team is listed eighth in the second Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll of the 2009 spring season. The national rankings poll was released Wednesday (March 25).

The Bulldogs earned 143 points to finish 10 points in back of seventh-place Barry (Fla.). Ferris State, under second-year head coach Mike Mignano, is ranked ninth with 176 points in the initial Golf World/NGCA Women's Golf Coaches' Poll (March 4) of the 2009 spring season.

Nova Southeastern (Fla.) has moved into the top position with 200 points and eight first-place votes while Florida Southern dropped down to second place with 189 points. Rollins (Fla.) has accumulated a third-place 187 points total while Lynn (Fla.) ranks fourth with 173 points. Grand Valley State, a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member like Ferris State, occupies fifth place as a result of receiving 161 points in the top 25 national poll.

The poll is a result of the combined resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA. The poll can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.

Ferris State embarks on its second spring tournament this weekend (March 28-29) as the Bulldogs compete in the Northern Kentucky Invitational at Perry Park, Ky. In its spring season opening tourney (March 9-10), FSU placed sixth of 14 teams at the Rollins Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Park, Fla.
