FERRIS STATE RANKED FIFTH IN NATIONAL PRESEASON POLL
Women's Golf Among Top Five For Second Straight Season

Golf World has released its 2008-09 preseason rankings and the Ferris State University women's golf team is listed fifth in the NCAA Division II preseason edition of the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches Poll. The poll was released on Aug. 27.
The Bulldogs received 220 points to place four points ahead of sixth-place Grand Valley State (216 points). Nova Southeastern (Fla.) is ranked number one with 266 points and five first-place votes. Rollins (Fla.), the defending 2007-08 NCAA-II National Champions, compiled a second-place 263 points and had six first-place votes. Tarleton State (Texas) picked up 230 points to claim fourth place in the top 25 preseason poll.
The preseason poll is based on the selections of nine women's coaches from across the nation and can be viewed online at www.golfdigest.com/golfworld.
Ferris State, under first-year head coach Mike Mignano, has placed third in each of its two fall tournaments to date. The Bulldogs posted a two-round 615 team score at the Ferris State Invitational (Aug. 30-31) in Big Rapids, Mich., and then carded a 618-stroke total at the 36-hole Grand Valley State Laker Classic (Sept. 1-2) in Allendale, Mich.
For the 2007-08 season, Ferris State recorded a fourth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA-II Women's Golf Championships (May 13-16) in Houston, Texas. The 2008 national tournament showing represented the program's fourth (2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, and 2007-08) consecutive national tourney appearance.
The Bulldogs were ranked third nationally in the 2007-08 preseason edition of the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches Poll with a 365 points total.
