WOMEN'S GOLF TAKES THIRD PLACE AT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
Freshman Bryce Hetchler Leads Ferris State With An Eighth-Place Showing

The nationally eighth-ranked Ferris State women's golf team carded a 318 score in Monday's (April 27) final-round action and concluded the 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Championships with a third-place 645 team score.
The two-day (April 26-27) conference tourney was held at Grand Valley State University's The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.
The Bulldogs, who were in second place following Sunday's (April 26) opening round, recorded a 69-strokes over par 645 score and were five shots in back of second-place Ashland (640, +64). Host Grand Valley State claimed the conference title with a first-place 615 (+39) two-round team stroke total.
Freshman Bryce Hetchler (Clinton Township/Fraser) led the way for Ferris State with an eighth-place 160 score (80-80=160, +8). Frosh Erin Fuchik (Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley) and senior Raquel Hansen (West Olive/Grand Haven) both tied for 10th place after firing a 19-over-par 163 apiece. Fuchik recorded rounds of 80 and 83 while Hansen tallied a round of 85 followed up by a shooting a 78.
Senior Alison Meyer (Duluth, Minn./Central) turned in a 164 (87-77=164, +20) to place tied for 12th while senior Meghan Hunter (Dexter) shot a 166 (82-84=166, +22), which was good for 15th place.
Freshman Blaize Baumgartner (Perry), who participated as an individual, concluded the tourney with a 14th-place 165-stroke total (85-80=165, +21).
Grand Valley State's Kristina Langton earned top individual medalist accolades by firing a two-over par 146. Langton, who maintained the top place from start to finish, ended up eight strokes in front of Ashland's Erin Misheff (154, +10).
