FERRIS GARNERS THIRD PLACE IN SPRING SEASON OPENING TOURNEY

Hoffman and Meyer Pace The Bulldogs With Eighth-Place Finishes

Ferris State's Becky Hoffman helped the Bulldogs to a third-place showing in their 2008 spring season opener.
The nationally third-ranked Ferris State women's golf team posted a two-round 627 team score to claim third-place honors at the Northern Kentucky Invitational this weekend (March 29-30) on the par 72, 5,906-yard Perry Park (Ky.) Golf Course.

The Bulldogs, who were participating in their 2008 spring season opener, finished six strokes behind tourney champion Grand Valley State (621) and three in back of second-place Indianapolis (624). Ferris placed three strokes ahead of fourth-place California, Pa. (630) in the 21-team tournament.

For Ferris State, senior Becky Hoffman and junior Alison Meyer led the way with eighth-place tying 154 scores. Hoffman carded a pair of 77 rounds while Meyer shot a final-round 76-stroke total after firing an opening-round 78 score.

Junior Meghan Hunter was the only other Bulldog golfer to crack the top 20 as she carded a 159 (82-77=159) to tie for 19th place.

Senior Missy Ward and junior Raquel Hansen rounded out the squad's scoring with a 163 (86-77=163) and 166 (83-83=166), respectively.

Taking part as a non-scoring individual was freshman Jacqueline Benscoter, who fired a 162 (82-80=162) to claim a 31st-place tie.
