Bulldogs Earn Highest Finisher Distinction Among Division II Teams
The nationally-ranked Ferris State women's golf team turned in 317 and and 318 scores in Saturday's (April 5) final two rounds at the 31st annual Illinois Illini Classic to conclude the two-day tournament with a 969 team score.
The Bulldogs compiled a +105-stroke total on the par 72, 6,244-yard Stone Creek Golf Club course in Urbana, Ill., and finished one stroke in front of 10th-place Grand Valley State (970, +106).
Host Illinois extended its opening-round lead and claimed the tournament championship with a 924 score (+60), nine strokes ahead of runner-ups Cincinnati (933, +69) and Southern Illinois (933, +69).
Junior Alison Meyer was the Bulldogs' top performer as she tied for 13th place with a 235-stroke total (83-76-76=235, +19). Seniors Missy Ward and Becky Hoffman concluded play tied for 32nd and 35th place, respectively. Ward produced a 25-over-par 241 (80-78-83=241) while Hoffman carded a 242 score (84-81-77=242, +26).
A pair of juniors, Raquel Hansen (87-82-82=251, +35) and Meghan Hunter (88-83-85=256, +40) placed tied for 54th and 63rd place, respectively.
