WOMEN'S GOLF IS SIXTH IN NATIONAL DIVISION II RANKINGS

Ferris State Continues To Remain Among Golf World's Top 10 Teams

Senior Becky Hoffman and the Ferris State women's golf team are ranked sixth in the nation by Golf World.

The Ferris State University women's golf team is listed sixth nationally in the latest Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll, which was released April 23.

In the fourth installment of this spring season, the Bulldogs received 256 points and trailed fifth-place Barry (Fla.) by two points (258). Rollins (Fla.) continued to hold the top placing for the second straight time with 318 points and seven first-place votes. Representing the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) along with Ferris State in the top 25 poll was Grand Valley State, which earned an eighth-place 238 points. Findlay was listed among other teams receiving votes.

FSU was ranked fifth in the third spring season poll (April 11) with 218 points after occupying third place in all of the previous 2007-08 season polls.

Ferris State presently ranks eighth place in the Golfstat.com rankings. In the Golfstat individual rankings for NCAA Division II, senior Becky Hoffman (Gaines/Swartz Creek) is fifth in Par 3 scoring with a 3.18 average.

The Bulldogs, who placed second at the GLIAC Women's Golf Championships last weekend (April 20-21) in Arlington, Ohio, have wrapped up their regular season and will next play in the NCAA-II East Regional on May 5-7 at Allendale, Mich.
