The Ferris State University women's golf team is ranked third in the nation by Golf World magazine in the preseason edition of the 2007-08 Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll. The poll was released Wednesday, Aug. 29.

The Bulldogs netted 365 total points, trailing only Florida Southern (432 pts.) and Rollins (407 pts.) Florida Southern, the 2007 NCAA-Division II National Champions, received 15 of the 17 first-place votes. Rollins, which won three (2004-06) consecutive national titles, and Drury (Mo.) both had one first-place vote apiece.

The poll is based on the selections of nine women's coaches from across the country and can be viewed online at www.golfdigest.com/golfworld.

Ferris State, under ninth-year head coach Brad Bedortha, started out its 2007-08 season this weekend (Sept. 1-2) hosting the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs posted a third-place finish at the 2007 NCAA-Division II Women's Golf Championships (May 9-12) in Pace, Fla., as a result of carding a four-round 1,228-stroke total. The third-place showing marked the fourth consecutive year in which the FSU women's golf team has placed among the top four in the nation as the Bulldogs were second in the 2006 national tournament and tied for runner-up honors in the 2005 national event all under head coach Brad Bedortha.
