Ferris State has been listed fourth in all three 2007 Golf World/NGCA Division II Women's Golf Coaches' Polls.

The third edition of the 2007 Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division II Coaches' Poll has been released and for the third consecutive time, the Ferris State University women's golf team is listed fourth. The poll, which was released Friday (April 6), combines the resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA.

The Bulldogs registered a fourth-place 168 points total and trailed third-place Lynn (Fla.) by 11 points. Florida Southern maintained its hold on the number-one placing with 198 points and six first-place votes. Rollins (Fla.) stayed in second place as a result of totaling 192 points and two first-place votes.

Joining Ferris State in the national poll as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) representatives were Grand Valley State (seventh) and Northwood (25th). Grand Valley State picked up 142 points in moving from ninth to seventh while Northwood cracked the top 25 with 19 points after not being ranked in the previous March 21st poll.

The poll is based on the selections of nine women's coaches from across the country and can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com/womenspoll.

Ferris State, under eighth-year head coach Brad Bedortha, garnered 147 points in the second poll (March 21) and had 186 points in the March 7 inaugural poll.

The 2006 NCAA Division II National Champion runner-up, Ferris State has won four tournaments during the 2006-07 season -- Ferris State Invitational (Sept. 2-3), Northwood Invitational (Sept. 29-30), Lenoir-Rhyne Lady Bear Intercollegiate (March 12-13), and Ashland Invitational (March 30-April 1).

Ferris was scheduled to play in the University of Illinois' 31st annual Illini Classic this last weekend (April 6-7) at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana, Ill., but cold weather forced cancellation of the tournament.

The Bulldogs return to the links April 20-21 for the 2007 GLIAC Championships at the Lake View Golf Club in North East, Pa. Mercyhurst College will serve as the conference tourney host. FSU captured the 2006 GLIAC Championships in Midland, Mich., with a first-place 913 team score in the 54-hole event.
