BULLDOGS MOVE UP TO FINISH SECOND PLACE AT MOUNTAIN SHOOTOUT

Runner-Up Finish Represents Ferris State's Third Straight This Fall

Sophomore Meghan Hunter tied for 12th place with a 154 at the 36-hole Northern Arizona Mountain Shootout.
Ferris State women's golf team moved up one place in Tuesday's (Sept. 19) final round to garner second place of eight teams at the Northern Arizona La Quinta Inn & Suites Mountain Shootout (Sept. 18-19) in Flagstaff, Ariz.

The Bulldogs fired a tourney second-round best 304 score and finished 11 strokes in back of first-place California Poly (606, +22) with a 617 team stroke total (+33). FSU shot an opening-round 314 score in Monday's (Sept. 18) play to claim third place. Sacramento State's 627 score (+43) was good for third place while host Northern Arizona posted a 638-stroke total (+54) to place fourth.

Individually, junior Becky Hoffman was the Bulldogs' top finisher with an eighth-place tying 152 (78-74=152, +6). Sophomore Meghan Hunter and senior Casey McKinnon both placed among the top 20 golfers by tying for 12th and 19th place, respectively. Hunter fired an eight-over par 154 (78-76=154, +8) and McKinnon turned in a 12-over par 158 (79-79=158, +12).

Junior Missy Ward carded a 162 (79-83=162, +16) to place 25th and sophomore Alison Meyer rounded out the scoring for Ferris with a 29th-place tying 164 (90-74=164, +18) on the par 73, 6,032-yard Continental Country Club course.

Recording a noteworthy effort as a non scorer was sophomore Raquel Hansen, who tied McKinnon for 19th place with a 158-stroke total (83-75=158, +12).

The second-place finish represented the third straight for Ferris State to date this fall.
