Ferris State's Casey McKinnon has been selected as this week's GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week.

Ferris State University women's golf team senior Casey McKinnon (St. Ignace/LaSalle) has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week as announced Wednesday (Oct. 4) by the conference office.

McKinnon played an integral part in helping Ferris State capture first place at the Northwood Invitational (Sept. 29-30) and then a second-place finish at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic (Oct. 1-2). She earned individual medalist honors at the Northwood Invite with a first-place 148-stroke total (71-77=148) and then registered a team-best 156 score (77-79=156) to tie for seventh place at the Findlay Beall Classic to conclude the fall campaign. McKinnon's 148 score not only tied her for the best 36-hole score this season, but also represented the eighth-best tying two-round total in Ferris State women's golf history.

In 12 rounds this season, McKinnon is averaging 78.50 strokes per round (942 total strokes) while recording four top 20-place finishes with two among the top 10.

For her career, McKinnon currently ranks fifth among Ferris' all-time leaders with an 80.48 strokes average (7,646 total strokes) in 95 rounds of competition.

McKinnon, a two-time (2003-04 and 2005-06) NGCA All-America Honorable Mention pick, has also been selected to the All-GLIAC First Team three times (2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06). She also is both a three-time conference all-academic team selection and an All-America Scholar. McKinnon was chosen as the 2003-04 GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

Junior Missy Ward (Fenton/Linden) garnered the weekly conference honor earlier this fall (Sept. 7).
