Bulldogs Take Home Runner-Up Honors At Findlay Beall Classic

Raquel Hansen carded a ninth-place tying 157 score at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic to close out the fall season.
The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up its 2006 fall season by recording a two-round 630 team score to finish second of 10 teams at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic (Oct. 1-2), which was held at the par 72, 5,851-yard Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a 311 score in Monday's (Oct. 2) final round and their 630-stroke total (+54) was four shots in back of tourney champion Grand Valley State's 626 score (+50). California (Pa.) captured third place at 633 (+57) while Northwood claimed fourth with a 638 score (+62). Indianapolis finished in fifth place with a 640-stroke total (+64).

Senior Casey McKinnon's 156 (77-79=156, +12) tied her for a team-leading seventh-place finish. Sophomore Raquel Hansen turned in ninth-place tying 157 (79-78=157, +13) while junior Missy Ward fired a 158 (82-76=158, +14) to garner a tie for 11th-place honors.

Junior Becky Hoffman placed in a four-way tie for 14th as a result of shooting a 159 (81-78=159, +15).

Sophomore Meghan Hunter had a 79 score in final-round play after being disqualified from the first round due to playing a hole out of order.

Competing as on a non-scoring individual basis was sophomore Alison Meyer, who generated a 158 score (78-80=158, +14) to tie teammate Missy Ward and one other golf for 11th place.

Grand Valley State's Caitlin Benett captured top individual medalist honors with a four-over-par 148 (75-73=148).
