FERRIS SECURES SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT BALL STATE CARDINAL CLASSIC
Bulldogs Take Tourney Runner-Up Honors For Third Consecutive Year

The Ferris State women's golf team recorded its second consecutive second-place finish this fall as the Bulldogs carded a 311 score in Sunday's (Sept. 10) final-round competition to register a two-round 615-stroke total at the Ball State Cardinal Classic (Sept. 9-10) in Yorktown, Ind.
The Bulldogs finished runner-up to tourney champion Eastern Michigan (607), which held on to its first-round lead. Grand Valley State (617) captured third-place honors while Western Michigan (620) and Oakland (620) both tied for fifth place in the 18-team tourney, which was held on the par 72, 6,164-yard The Player's Club Golf Course at Woodland Trails.
Junior Becky Hoffman was Ferris' top individual as she shot a team season-best two-round 148 score (74-74--148) to place second, three strokes in back of Grand Valley State's Ashley Smith (71-74-145) for top individual medalist accolades. Hoffman's 148 score tied for the eighth-best in Ferris' history and was two strokes off from tying the school record.
Junior Missy Ward fired a 151 (75-76--151) to claim a share of fourth place while sophomore Alison Meyer turned in a 156 score (75-81--156) to tie for 17th place.
Senior Casey McKinnon tied for 39th after shooting a 160 (80-80--16) and sophomore Meghan Hunter rounded out the Bulldog scoring with a 46th-place tying 162-stroke total (80-82--162).
Ferris has now placed second at the Cardinal Classic the last three years in a row. The Bulldogs posted a 615 team score in last season's tourney (Sept. 19-20) after totaling a 597-stroke total in the 2004 tournament (Sept. 11-12).
