Senior Elena Robles earned top medalist plaudits as the Bulldogs defended their Northwood Invite Title.
The Ferris State University women's golf team played championship golf at the Northwood Invitational and the Bulldogs' performance paid dividends as they finished first of nine participating schools with a two-round 605 team score (+29) and defended their tourney championship title in the process.

FSU notched a 309 score in Friday's (Sept. 30) first-round play and then carded a tourney-best 296 in Saturday's (Oct. 1) final-round action to win by 17 strokes at the par 72, 6,227-yard Currie West Golf Course in Midland, Mich. Grand Valley State captured runner-up honors with a 622 score (+46) and Western Ontario's 637-strokes total (+61) was good enough for third place.

Senior Elena Robles paced the Bulldogs for the second straight tournament and garnered top medalist honors for the second time in her last three tourney appearances with a first-place 148 (75-73--148, +4). Sophomore Becky Hoffman was right behind Robles with a 151 score (78-73-151, +7) to finish second.

Junior Casey McKinnon placed in a three-way tie for sixth place on the basis of shooting a 155 (82-73--155, +11). Sophomore Missy Ward fired a 157 (80-77-157, +13) to tie for 12th place and freshmen Meghan Hunter recorded a 158 (76-82-158, +14) which proved worthy of a 16th-place tying finish.

A pair of non-scoring freshmen, Alison Meyer and Raquel Hansen placed third and tied for 25th, respectively. Meyer posted a 153 (80-73--153, +9) and Hansen registered a 165 (82-83--165, +21).
