FSU CAPTURES FINDLAY INVITE TITLE; CONCLUDES FALL SEASON

Robles and Ward Are Tourney's Top Two Finishers

Sophomore Missy Ward, who placed second, was among four Bulldogs to finish among the top 10 individuals at the Findlay Invitational.
The Ferris State women's golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2005-06 season with its second consecutive first-place finish as the Bulldogs carded a tourney-best 299 in Monday's (Oct. 3) final-round action on the par 72, 5,636-yard Redhawk Run Golf Course to finish with a 608 team score (+32) at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic in Arlington, Ohio.

The Bulldogs, who have claimed top honors in two of the last three Findlay Invites, posted a Sunday (Oct. 2) opening-round stroke total of 309 at the Sycamore Springs Golf Course.

Northwood finished 34 strokes behind Ferris State to claim second place while host Findlay was third with a two-round 654 (+69) score. Senior Elena Robles achieved top individual medalist honors for the second consecutive tournament with a 147 (73-74--147, +3) and was three strokes in front of sophomore Missy Ward, who posted a second-place 150 (77-73--150, +6).

Sophomore Becky Hoffman turned in a fourth-place 155-stroke total (78-77--155, +11) while junior Heidi Aittama placed in a three-way tie for sixth place as a result of firing a 159 (84-75--159, +15). Rounding out the scoring for FSU was junior Casey McKinnon, who notched a 162 (81-81--162, +26) to tie for 12th place.

Freshman Raquel Hansen, competing as a non-scoring individual, shot a season-best 156 (79-77--156, +12) to garner fifth place on the leaderboard. Frosh Alison Meyer also took part in a non-scoring capacity and turned in a noteworthy effort by tying McKinnon for 12th place with a 162 score (82-80--162, +18).
