Bulldogs Finish 14 Strokes Behind Tourney Champion

Junior Derek Radley competed as a non-scoring individual and tied for 23rd place with a two-round 152 score.
The Ferris State men's golf team took fourth-place honors of 11 participating teams at the Northwood Invitational Friday (Oct. 1), which was held at both the Currie Golf East and West Courses in Midland, Mich.

The Bulldogs totaled a 36-hole 603 team score (+27), which was comprised of 302 and 301 rounds to place two strokes back of third-place Wayne State (601). Saginaw Valley State captured first-place kudos with a 13-over par 589 followed by host Northwood at 595 on the par 72 course.

Leading Ferris for the second straight tourney was junior Todd Griffin, who tallied a 147-stroke total (73-74--147, +3) to share fifth-place honors. Sophomore Alex Balog's 150 (77-73--150, +12) tied him with four other individuals for 12th place.

Sophomore Jeff Carlson was two strokes behind Balog at 152 (73-79--152, +8), good for a 23rd-place tie with junior Derek Radley (78-74--152, +8), who participated as a non-scorer.

Sophomore Kyle Mason (79-75--154, +10) and senior Aaron Brown (80-79--159, +15) rounded out the Bulldogs' scoring players with a 32nd-place tying and 48th-place tying performances, respectively.

Freshman Derek Shelburne, taking part as a non-scoring individual, tied for 43rd following a 158 score (78-80--158, +14).
