FERRIS CONCLUDES GREAT LAKES REGION II TOURNEY IN SIXTH PLACE

Spring Season Underway For The Bulldogs

Kyle Mason's 149 score at the Great Lakes Regional Tourney was a stroke shy of matching his season's best.
A sixth-place finish by the Ferris State men's golf team at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament II (March 19-20) in Perry Park, Ky., represented the Bulldogs' first action on the links this spring.

Ferris turned in a two-day 599-stroke total (298-301--599) on the par 72, 7,126-yard Perry Park Golf Course as the Bulldogs were two strokes behind a pair of fifth-place teams in Wayne State (597) and Northern Kentucky (597). Grand Valley State claimed top team honors with a first-place 580 score (293-287--580) in the 21-team tourney field. Lewis placed second at 589 followed by Saginaw Valley State (596).

Sophomore Alex Balog led Ferris with a 148 (73-75--148) to tie for 13th place. Sophomore Kyle Mason placed tied for 19th as a result of firing a 149 (77-72--149). Tying for 21st was sophomore Jeff Carlson, who shot a 150 score (74-76--150).

Junior Todd Griffin finished in a tie for 36th place with a 152 (74-78--152) and junior Derek Radley rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs by carding a 165 (83-82--165), which was good for 90th place.
