A solid performance by the Ferris State men's golf team resulted in a third-place finish at the Grand Valley State Invitational Sunday (Sept. 14) as the Bulldogs compiled a two-round 616 score (298-318--616) on the par 72, 7,034-yard Meadows Golf Course at Allendale, Mich.

Host Grand Valley State claimed first-place honors with a 594-stroke total while fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member Saginaw Valley State's 607 score was good for second place.

Senior Everett Leonard recorded the top individual finish with a fifth-place tying performance after firing a 149 score (79-70--149) but didn't count in the team standings as a result of competing as an unattached individual.

Senior Jon Pazdera tied for 14th place to lead Ferris after carding a 152 (73-79--152) while senior Pat Simmer tied for 19th place following a 153 score (74-79--153). One stroke behind Simmer was sophomore Aaron Brown, who shot a two-round 154 total (76-78--154) to tie for 21st place.

Freshmen Jeff Carlson and Alex Balog placed tied for 33rd and 41st place, respectively. Carlson registered a 157-stroke total (75-82--157) while Balog posted a 160 (78-82--160). Fellow frosh Kyle Mason competed as a non-scoring individual and notched a 21st-place tying 154 score (74-80--154).
