FERRIS STATE FINISHES FIFTH AT NCAA GREAT LAKES REGIONAL
Bulldogs Conclude Their 2003-04 Season
The Ferris State men's golf team concluded its 2003-04 season Wednesday (May 5) by placing fifth at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Super Regional in Union, Ky.
The Bulldogs posted a three-round 927 team score to finish 75 strokes over par and 28 shots behind first-place Northern Kentucky, which secured the only 2004 NCAA-II Championship berth with a 899 score. FSU, which recorded earlier rounds of 312 and 304, carded a 311 on the par 71, 6,724-yard Lassing Pointe Golf Club course in final-round play to claim fifth place of eight teams.  | Freshman Jeff Carlson picked up his team-leading fifth top 10 placing at the NCAA Great Lakes Superior Regional with a seventh-place showing. |
Freshman Jeff Carlson was Ferris' top individual finisher with a seventh-place 225 score (78-72-75--225, +12). He finished the spring campaign with top 10 placings in three of his final four tournament appearances. Senior Chris Griffin took 23rd place following a 233-stroke total (79-78-76--233, +5).
Placing in a five-way deadlock for 24th place was senior Pat Simmer, who shot 22 over par with a 235 score (78-78-79--235). Freshman Kyle Mason was among three players tallying a 238 total (81-76-81--238, +25) to tie for 32nd-place honors.
Fellow frosh Alex Balog fired a 239 (77-81-81--239, +26) to garner 35th-place kudos.
