FERRIS TAKES FOURTH AT GREAT LAKES REGION QUALIFIER

Mitch Flemming Ties For Sixth Place To Pace Bulldogs

Led by a sixth-place tying effort from senior Mitch Flemming, Ferris State finished in fourth place with a 577 score at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Qualifier in Auburn, Ind.

Flemming shot a final round score of 70 for a two-round, even par total of 142 as the Bulldogs were nine strokes over par at the Par 71, 6,582-yard Deer Track Golf Course. FSU fired an opening-round 289 score and then followed with a 288 total to capture fourth place in the 18-team field. Grand Valley State was the tournament champion with an even par 568 two-round score.

Senior Tyler Averdick recorded a 144 score (75-69--144, +2) to finish in a five-way tie for 10th place while junior Pat Simmer was among five players placing tied for 22nd as a result of firing a 147 score (73-74--147, +5).

Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were senior Jason Brustad and junior Jon Pazdera, who both garnered a tie for 51st place. Brustad compiled a 153 total (78-75--153, +11) while Pazdera tallied an indentical two-round score (79-84--153, +11).

The Bulldogs will be competing in the Hillsdale Invitational this weekend (April 26-27), which will be held at the Blackberry Patch Golf Course in Coldwater, Mich.
