ERIC LILLEBOE SHARES GLIAC MEN'S GOLF ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONOR
Conference Bestows Weekly Recognition To Ferris State Golfer
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has selected Ferris State University junior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) as a co-recipient of the conference men's golf athlete of the week for this week (Sept. 24) as announced by the league office.
Lilleboe, who shared the conference weekly honor with Saginaw Valley State's Kasey Hocquard, placed in a three-way tie for third place with a six-under-par 138 score (68-70=138) in helping Ferris State to second-place showing at this last weekend's (Sept. 21-22) NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament in South Haven, Mich. The Bulldogs carded a two-under-par 574 team score in the 36-hole tourney.
The 2007-08 GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year, Lilleboe is averaging a team second-best 71.80 strokes per round (359 total strokes) in five rounds this season. The 2006-07 All-GLIAC First-Team selection registered an eighth-place tying 221 score at the Indianapolis Invitational (Sept. 15-16) in his 2008 fall season debut.
For his career, Lilleboe has compiled a current 74.35 stroke average (3,420 total strokes) in 46 rounds. He has totaled 12 top-20 place finishes with seven being among the top five individuals.
The GLIAC weekly recognition represents the second in Lilleboe's career as the Bulldog golfer earned the honor last season (April 16).
Lilleboe and the Bulldogs will play in the Grand Valley State Laker Invitational this weekend (Sept. 28-29) at GVSU's The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.
