Bulldogs Make 2008-09 Season Debut In Division II Men's Golf Coaches Poll

The Ferris State University men's golf team is listed among teams receiving votes in the third spring season installment of the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday (April 1).
The Bulldogs tallied 14 points and were one of 17 teams listed as others to receive votes. Columbus State (Ga.) moved up from second into first place as the Cougars received 412 and one first-place vote.
The Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The poll results will appear in the April 6th issue of Golf World and also can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.
Besides Ferris State, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) was represented in the national poll by Grand Valley State and Findlay. GVSU and UF also were among those teams to garner votes.
|Garrett Simons and the FSU men's golf team are among those teams to receive votes in the recently released national Division II coaches' poll.
FSU, which is directed by second-year head coach Mike Mignano, recently captured the Ashland (Ohio) Invitational title last weekend (March 28-29) as the Bulldogs placed first of nine participating schools with a three-round 879-stroke total.
The Bulldogs have finished at least fifth place or better in six of their seven tournaments to date for the 2008-09 season, which includes back-to-back second-place performances at the Indianapolis (Ind.) Invitational (Sept. 15-16) and NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Tournament I (Sept. 21-22) in South Haven, Mich.
Ferris State returns to the links this weekend (April 4-5) to compete in the NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Tournament II at Georgetown, Ky.
