FERRIS MEN'S GOLF FINISHES THIRD AT NCAA REGIONAL
Bulldogs Narrowly Miss Qualifying For Nationals
The Ferris State men's golf team had its 2007-08 season come to a close as the Bulldogs placed third with an 889 score at the 2008 NCAA Division II Central/Great Lakes Super Regional (May 5-7) in Findlay, Ohio.
The Bulldogs just missed qualifying for nationals as Indianapolis fired an 885-stroke total (+21) to claim first place. Grand Valley State ended up two strokes in back of Indianapolis with an 887 score (+23) as the top two finishers will advance. Ferris State registered rounds of 300, 294, and 295 on the par 72, 7,155-yard Red Hawk Run Golf Course.
Sophomore Eric Lilleboe turned in one of his best performances as he took runner-up honors for the individual medalist by firing an even-par 216 (74-70-72=216). Wayne State's Joe Juszczyk earned top individual honors with a three-under par 213-stroke total.
Junior Kelbi Lee was among three players to tie for sixth place as a result of carding a 221 score (72-73-76=221, +5). Junior Derek Shelburne (79-75-73=227, +11) along with sophomore Kurt Valley (75-78-74=227, +11) each tie for 23rd place with 227-stroke totals. Redshirt freshman Joe Brown netted a 232 score (80-76-76=232, +16) to tie for 32nd place.
