MEN'S GOLF OPENS 2007-08 SEASON WITH THIRD-PLACE SHOWING
Eric Lilleboe Captures Tourney Medalist Crown
Sophomore Eric Lilleboe won medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career as a result of posting a one-under par 143 score (70-73=143) as the Ferris State men's golf team opened its 2007-08 season by taking third place in the six-team Northwood Invitational (Sept. 10) in Midland, Mich.

The Bulldogs compiled a 601 team score (299-302=601, +25) on the par 72, 7,056-yard Currie West Golf Course to finish two strokes in back of second-place Saginaw Valley State (599, +23) and eight strokes behind tourney champion Wayne State (593, +17). Ferris was one stroke in front of Findlay (602, +26), which captured fourth place.
Sophomore Kurt Valley wound up in a four-way tie for ninth place overall by totaling a 149 (73-76=149, +5) while redshirt freshman Joe Brown's 154 score (77-77=154, +10) tied him for 27th place. Senior Matt Erickson fired a 155 (79-76=155, +11) to garner a share of 31st place. Junior Derek Shelburne, who redshirted last season, turned in a 34th-place tying 156 score (79-77=156, +12).
Junior Brian Janty tied Erickson for 31st place by producing a 155-stroke total (79-76=155, +11) as a non-scoring individual. Freshman Jack Tunge also competed in non-scoring capacity and earned a tie for 34th place after recording a 156 score (73-83=156, +12) in the 36-hole event.
