BULLDOGS FINISH FOURTH AT ST. ANDREWS INVITATIONAL

Ferris Improves By 11 Strokes In Final-Round Competition

Freshman Kurt Valley led the Bulldogs at the St. Andrews Invitational.
The Ferris State University men's golf team finished in fourth place with a 627 team score at the fourth annual St. Andrews Invitational in Vass, N.C.

The two-day tournament was hosted by St. Andrews Presbyterian College.

The Bulldogs shot a final-round score of 308 in Tuesday's (March 20) play after producing a 319 in Monday's (March 19) opening round on the par 72, 6,791-yard Maples Course at the Woodlake Resort and Golf Club.

Mount Olive College rallied from a first-round seven-stroke deficit to capture top tourney honors with a first-place 614 (+38). Findlay was eight strokes behind Mount Olive to place second while Queens University of Charlotte recorded a third-place 625 score in the nine-team tournament. Ferris State finished 51 stokes over par and was two strokes in back of Queens.

Freshman Kurt Valley shot a team-best final round 74 to finish at 152 (78-74=152, +8) and a seventh-place showing. Junior Matt Erickson posted a 158 (83-75=158, +14) to garner 14th-place honors while senior Jeff Carlson finished one stroke in back of Erickson with a 159 (80-79=159, +15) to gain a tie for 15th place.

Fellow senior Brody Moreland shared 17th place with one other golfer after firing a 160 score (80-80=160, +16). Senior Kyle Mason rounded out the scoring for Ferris as he tied for 20th place with a 162-stroke total (81-81=162, +18).
