FERRIS STATE REGISTERS TOP-FIVE FINISH IN REGIONAL EVENT

The Ferris State men's golf team wrapped up the 2007 NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Tournament III at the Lockhaven Country Club in Alton, Ill., Sunday (April 22) with a fifth-place tying finish after recording a two-round 599-stroke total.

The Bulldogs posted a second-round 304 score after registering a 295 in Saturday's (April 21) opening round.

Ferris State tied Saginaw Valley State (599) for fifth place as Wayne State topped the 19-team tourney field with a 574 score. Northern Kentucky was second at 590 while Southern Illinois-Edwardsville captured third place with a 597-stroke total. Bellarmine garnered fourth place as a result of totaling a 598 score.

Senior Brody Moreland was FSU's top finisher in the 36-hole event with an eighth-place tying 147 score (72-75=147). Junior Matt Erickson compiled a 150 (72-78=150) to claim a share of 21st place while senior Kyle Mason finished one stroke behind Erickson with a 151 (71-80=151) to tie for 26th.

Freshman Kurt Valley wound up in a 57th-place tie after shooting a 155 score (80-75=155). Senior Jeff Carlson carded a 156 (80-76=156) to tie for 63rd place.
