FERRIS CONCLUDES GVSU LAKER INVITE TIED FOR SIXTH PLACE
Freshman Kurt Valley Takes Third Place For The Bulldogs

The Ferris State men's golf team shot a final-round 305 score in Monday's (Sept. 18) competition and scored a two-round 611 team score (+35) at the Grand Valley State Laker Invitational (Sept. 17-18) in Allendale, Mich.
Host Grand Valley State captured top team honors as the Lakers "Blue" squad finished with a 595 (+19) and the Lakers "Black" squad was one stroke back at 596 (+20) on par 72, 7,034-yard The Meadows Golf Club course. Saginaw Valley State fired a 602 (+26) to claim third place while Wayne State and Ashland each carded a 608-stroke total (+32) to tie for fourth. Findlay matched Ferris' 611 score to tie for sixth-place honors in the 11-team tourney field.
Freshman Kurt Valley fired a team-best 72 in the final round to finish third individually with a 146 (74-72=146, +2). Senior Jeff Carlson shot an 11th-place tying 150 (72-78=150, +6) while senior Brody Moreland carded a 154 (80-74=154, +10) to claim a share of 23rd place.
Senior Kyle Mason turned in a 48th-place tying effort as a result of posting a 161 score (80-81=161, +17) and sophomore Nick Pexa ended up tied for 67th after registering a 170-stroke total (88-82=170, +26).
Sophomore Eric Dovre and freshman Eric Lilleboe both took part as non-scoring individuals. Dovre tied for 23rd place by firing a 154 (79-75=154, +10) while Lilleboe produced a 158 score (80-78=158, +14) to tie for 39th place.
