FERRIS STATE ATHLETICS TO CEASE PRINTING MEDIA GUIDES

Cost-Savings Initiative To Help Protect The Environment

The Ferris State University Athletics Communications Office has eliminated the printing of media guides and is going paperless effective immediately in an announcement made by FSU Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic.

Bulldog Logo The FSU Athletics Communications Office, which has been printing media guides for more than 40 years, will still be producing all of the information contained in those printed publications. The media guides will be posted electronically and in a PDF version on the school's official athletics website at www.ferris.edu/sports.

All of the current information contained within the printed media guides such as student-athlete biographies, statistics, records, etc. will still be available to the media, fans, alumni, etc.

"Although this is a significant change in the manner we've provided information, the positives far outweigh the negatives in making this change," explained Kirinovic. "The cost savings allows us to channel funds in more needy areas and also has an important impact on our environment.

"This is a move which was recently discussed to great lengths by the member institutions of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) not to mention the NCAA. The national trend is going toward paperless publications and with all things considered, this is a positive move for our (athletics) department," added Kirinovic.

Kirinovic also believes that not-printing media guides will generate greater interest in the athletic department's website.

"I truly believe we can better serve the media and our fans with more updated information on our website than relying on a printed media guide," stated Kirinovic.
