JUDD FOLSKE NAMED HEAD BASEBALL COACH AT ALMA COLLEGE
Ferris Athletics Hall of Fame Member To Direct Alma College's Baseball Program
Judd Folske, who spent 24 seasons in the Ferris State University baseball program, was recently named as the head baseball coach at Alma (Mich.) College.
Folske replaces John Leister, who was promoted to the athletics director post at the NCAA Division III institution. 
Folske, who began his career at Ferris State in 1971, was inducted into the FSU Bulldog Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
Folske served as head coach of the Ferris State's baseball team from 1984-94 and guided the Bulldogs to seven Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships while receiving GLIAC Coach of the Year Award recognition seven times. He concluded his FSU coaching career with a 239-303-5 (.441) overall record, which included a 122-54-0 (.693) mark in conference play. Folske guided Ferris to six straight league championship titles from 1988-93. Under his guidance, the 1992 Bulldog squad set a GLIAC record with 22 conference victories.
Along with his baseball coaching duties, Folske was an assistant professor in FSU's Physical Education program. He also served as an assistant football coach and football scout team coordinator, the director of intramurals, recreation and club sports along with working as an assistant to the athletics director during his Ferris State career.
Folske joined Alma College in the fall of 2005 following coaching stints at Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. Folske was the head coach of Central Michigan's baseball from 1999-02 and compiled a 131-98-0 (.572) record. In 2000, he directed the Chippewas to a 41-17 overall record and a first-place tying 18-8-0 mark in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Folske left CMU after the 2002 campaign and served two seasons as an assistant coach at Saginaw Valley State University.
Folske, who spent six years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and left with an Honorable Discharge, began his coaching career as the head football and baseball coach at Anchor Bay Catholic High School in New Baltimore, Mich. He received his bachelor's degree from Ferris State University in 1974 and earned a masters/specialist in Physical Education from Central Michigan University in 1976.
Folske, who's married to 2002 Bulldog Athletics Hall of Fame class member Monica Folske, has two sons, Brett and James.
