Ferris Football Team To Wear Throwback Uniforms For The Game

The Ferris State University football program will stop the hands of time for a short period and focus on its storied tradition with “Turn Back the Clock Night” on Saturday, Sept. 3, as the Bulldog football team hosts the Ashland University Eagles in their 2005 season home opener at Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, Mich. Game time for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup is 7:05 p.m. (EDT).

Ferris State will take a step into the past Saturday, Sept. 3, as the Bulldogs hold "Turn Back The Clock Night" at Top Taggart Field.

The event, which is being sponsored by WDEE 97.3 FM, Meijer, and Ferris State Alumni Relations, will feature the 2005 Bulldog football team donning throwback uniforms for the contest.

The day’s festivities begin at 4 p.m. (EDT) with tailgating near the stadium. The traditional Pigskin Cookout will be conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. (EDT).

A highlight of the event will be the Beatlemania Live! concert, which will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (EDT), and proceeded by the Party in The Dog Pound starting at 6:30 p.m. (EDT). The annual fireworks display will conclude the day’s events and is slated to commence 15 minutes upon the football game’s conclusion.

Tickets for the entire day are $10 and Ferris students will be admitted free of charge with their student identification. Fans may reserve tickets to the event by contacting StarTicketsPlus at 1-800-585-3737 and www.starticketsplus.com or by calling the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888. Tickets are also available via online by going to Ferris Athletics’ official website – www.ferris.edu/sports.

“The Ferris State Athletics Department is excited to host another special event for the 2005 football home opener,” said Ferris Associate Athletics Director For Advancement Brian Kegler. “Turn Back the Clock Night follows in the footsteps of the Ferris Football Frenzy which took place at last year’s home opener. The success of this event led us to a partnership with WDEE 97.3 FM, Meijer, and Ferris Alumni Relations to put on a similar event this year. We anticipate a great turnout with all of the festivities we have planned for this evening to help kickoff another exciting season of Bulldog football.”

The Ferris Football Frenzy was held during last year’s 2004 football season opener (Aug. 28) against Grand Valley State and the event set a new Ferris modern-day attendance record of 8,426 spectators.

Ferris State will kickoff its 97th year of varsity competition and its 2005 season 11-game schedule Saturday, August 27 at archrival Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. A 7 p.m. (EDT) opening kickoff is scheduled for the GLIAC opener at GVSU’s Arend D. Lubbers Stadium.
