FERRIS STATE BASKETBALL SQUADS TEAM UP FOR WORTHY CAUSE

Bulldog Programs Unite For Special Olympics Charity Game This Wednesday

Ferris State Basketball The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams have teamed up with FSU Recreation Leadership and Management program students to raise funds for the local Special Olympics Area 5 program.

The Bulldog teams will square off against the Special Olympics Area 5 Dawgs in a charity head-to-head basketball game Wednesday, March 22, beginning at 7 p.m. (EST) inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena at Big Rapids, Mich.

Ferris students will be admitted free to the game with their student identification card while community members are encouraged to attend for only a $1 admission fee. All proceeds from the event will go to the Area 5 Special Olympics.

The event will include special halftime activities along with various raffles and prizes. Gift certificates to local businesses will also be awarded throughout the evening.

The Ferris State women's basketball squad wrapped up its 2005-06 season with an 18-10 overall record. The Bulldogs made their seventh consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament appearance and posted a 10th consecutive season with 10 or more victories this campaign under eighth-year head coach Tracey Bloodworth-Fisk.

FSU's men's basketball squad posted an 18-13 overall mark this year and advanced to the NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Tournament for the second consecutive campaign. Ferris State also claimed GLIAC Tournament runner-up kudos under fourth-year head coach Bill Sall after posting a second-place 13-5 mark in GLIAC North Division regular-season action.
