2003-04 BULLDOG ATHLETICS LUNCHEON SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Ferris State To Hold Five Luncheons At The Wheeler Pavilion This Fall
The Ferris State University Alumni Association, in conjunction with the FSU Athletics Department, will host five Bulldog Athletics Luncheons during the 2003-04 athletics season.
The luncheons, which will be held within the President’s Box (second level) of the Wheeler Pavilion at FSU’s Top Taggart Field, provide guests with an opportunity to listen to selected head coaches recap previous contests and preview upcoming events. Each luncheon this season will consist of two or three featured speakers from Ferris’ 15 varsity athletics programs. Additional head coaches not scheduled to be featured will also be available to discuss their respective programs.
All five luncheons will begin at 12 p.m. (ET) and last approximately one hour. The initial luncheon, which is slated for Wednesday, Sept. 10, will feature Bulldog football head coach Jeff Pierce, first-year women’s soccer head coach Melissa Eging and Tia Brandel-Wilhelm, women’s volleyball head coach.
“We’ve created an improved format in hopes of getting the community more involved in Ferris State Athletics,” said Ira Childress, program coordinator for Ferris’ Alumni Relations office. “The luncheons will give Bulldog fans a chance to hear in-depth from our featured coaches while the Wheeler Pavilion will serve as a permanent gathering place for supporters.
“We’re extending an invitation for all community members and any other interested persons to attend,” Childress added.
The luncheons will be catered by FSU Dining Services and the $6 cost includes food and beverages. Raffle prizes from the athletics department, individual coaches and the alumni association will also be given away.
The $1.8 million state-of-the-art Wheeler Pavilion was completed in August 2001 and overlooks Top Taggart Field, one of the nation’s top Division II football-playing facilities. The three-story building, named in honor of alumnus John Wheeler (‘76) and his wife, Chris, is located on the stadium’s west side. Parking for the luncheons will be available inside the stadium adjacent to the bleachers at the west entrance.
