FINALISTS SELECTED FOR ASSOCIATE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR POSITION
Interview Sessions For The Three Finalists Is Open To The Public And Begins Monday
The Ferris State University Athletics Department has narrowed its search for the vacant associate athletics director position to three finalists in an announcement made Wednesday (July 9) by FSU Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic.
The finalists, who will be interviewing on the Ferris State campus starting Monday (July 14) were announced after Kirinovic and the search committee met to narrow the list of candidates in the screening and selection process.
The associate director position has been vacant since Brian Kegler accepted the director of development for athletics position at the University of Tulsa in July 2007.
The three finalists are Dr. Rob Barnhill, director of athletics at Concordia University-Wisconsin; Jon Coles, activities and athletics director/assistant principal at Big Rapids (Mich.) High School; and Don Kaverman, director of athletics at Southeast Missouri State University.
A public forum, which allows both the Ferris State and local communities an opportunity to meet with each candidate, will be held from 10:15-11 a.m. (EDT) during each candidate's interview session. The forum will be held at the Wheeler Pavilion on the FSU campus.
"I would like to extend an invitation to anyone who can attend to please do so," said Kirinovic. "This is a critical position within the athletics department at Ferris State University and we value the input of the community in this selection process."
The associate athletics director position will assist the Ferris State Athletics Director in the admininstration and supervision of the university's athletics program. Primary focus will be on the tasks that require internal department support and the assistance of a variety of campus entities on a day-to-day basis. The position will provide the athletics department with the administrative leadership in the absence of, or at the discretion of the Director of Athletics. Some specific responsibilities will include the oversight of the department's extensive marketing efforts, oversight of all department budget accounts and event management for the sports of football and men's ice hockey.

Monday, July 14 - Dr. Rob Barnhill (Director of Athletics - Concordia University-Wisconsin)
Tuesday, July 15 - Jon Coles (Activities and Athletics Director/Assistant Principal - Big Rapids High School)
Wednesday, July 16 - Don Kaverman (Director of Athletics - Southeast Missouri State University)
