LANDON JONES IS NEWEST FERRIS FOOTBALL RECRUIT
Bulldogs Add Talented Athlete; 2006 Class Now At 24 Members
Ferris State University head football coach Jeff Pierce recently announced the addition of Landon Jones (Lansing/Sexton) to the 2006 Bulldog recruiting class.
The signing of Jones brings Ferris State's 2006 recruiting group to a total of 24 student-athletes with all but one hailing from Michigan.
"We are excited to add Landon to our recruiting class," said Pierce. "He's a quality young man who will represent our program in a positive way both on the field and in the classroom."
Jones, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound defensive back from Lansing's Sexton High School under head coach Dan Boggan, received All-Capital Area Athletic Conference (CAAC) honors this past fall. He rushed for 843 yards and nine TD's on 93 carries while registering 61 total tackles (38 solo) with three pass interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. Jones played a key role this past season in leading Sexton to a 7-4 overall record and a second-round appearance in the state playoff tournament.
Besides football, Jones also competes in both indoor and outdoor track for the Reds.
The son of Bruce and Sandra Jones, Landon plans to major in construction management at Ferris State.
