MIKE KLOBUCHER NAMED TO CDS PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Bulldog Senior Receives Another Preseason Honor

Mike Klobucher
Senior middle linebacker Mike Klobucher continues to garner preseason All-America recognition.

Ferris State University football senior middle linebacker Mike Klobucher (Grand Haven/North Muskegon) has been named to the 2006 Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Division II Preseason All-America First Team.

Klobucher, the Bulldogs' Most Valuable Player last season, is among 27 individuals to achieve first-team recognition by the online gridiron service which specializes in National Football League (NFL) draft coverage. He was also a second-team selection to CDS' All-Underappreciated Team.

The Bulldogs' Most Valuable Player in 2005, Klobucher paced Ferris in tackles for the second straight season with 109 total stops (45 solos) in 10 outings for the 2005 campaign. The two-time (2004-05) All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Honorable Mention Team pick totaled 6.5 tackles for a loss of 16 yards to go along with one pass breakup, one fumble recovery, and two forced fumbles. The 6-2, 245-pound linebacker racked up double-figure tackles in five consecutive contests (9/3-10/1) a season ago, including a season-best 17 stops versus Indianapolis (9/17), and was the recipient of the squad's Most Valuable Defensive Skill Player Award.

Klobucher concluded the 2005 campaign ranked 14th among the NCAA-II national leaders in total tackles (10.9 avg.), 45th in solo tackles (4.9 avg.), and 100th in forced fumbles (0.2 avg.). He accumulated a career single-season best 134 tackles in 2004 which ranks 18th highest in school history. An excellent student-athlete, Klobucher is a two-time (2004-05) GLIAC All-Academic Team member and was the 2005 team's winner of the FSU President's Academic Award for having the highest cumulative grade point average.

Klobucher was also chosen as a 2006 preseason All-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.

Ferris State starts the 2006 season on the road in its first two contests -- at Kentucky State (Sept. 2) and at Mercyhurst (Sept. 9). The Bulldogs return to Top Taggart Field for their home opener on Sept. 16 versus Saginaw Valley State.
