Duane Wilson Honored As One Of Western Michigan's Best Gridiron Performers

Ferris State University football assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Duane Wilson has been named to Western Michigan University's All-Century Top 100 Football Players list.

To close out the 2005 season long celebration of the 100th campaign in WMU football history, the Broncos' Athletics Department and a committee compiled by members of the athletics department put together a list of the top 100 student-athletes in football to wear the Brown and Gold uniform.

Wilson, who recently completed 15th year in a coaching capacity at Ferris State, attained first-team All-Mid American Conference (MAC) honors at offensive tackle during his senior year in 1982. The four-year letterwinner (1979-82) served as a WMU team captain and was the Broncos' Most Improved Player as a senior.

Following his playing career, Wilson remained at Western Michigan where he was a graduate assistant coach for two years and coached the offensive tackles during WMU's MAC Championship team which went on to compete in the 1988 California Raisin Bowl.

Wilson resumed his playing career as a professional in the United States Football League (USFL) with the Oklahoma and then the relocated Arizona Outlaws for three years as a lineman.

Along with his defensive coordinator duties at Ferris State, Wilson is the Bulldogs' linebackers coach and also the program's strength and conditioning coordinator.
