FERRIS ADDS JASON REBROVICH TO FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF

High-Energy Individual To Coach Defensive Line

The Ferris State University football program has added assistant coach Jason Rebrovich to its coaching staff in an announcement made by 11th-year head coach Jeff Pierce.

Rebrovich (pronounced Reb-row-vitch) will serve as the Bulldogs’ defensive line coach and fills the vacancy created when third-year assistant coach Joe Curry returned to his alma mater the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., to become the Fighting Saints’ Defensive Coordinator.

Jason Rebrovich “Jason is an extremely high-energy coach who brings a lot of excitement to the game,” said Pierce, the school’s all-time winningest coach. “His approach gets guys excited and I believe you need some of those personalities in your program. He’s focused on details and is always quick to make sure his players are doing all the correct things.

“Jason’s knowledge of the defensive line is excellent because he has played and coached at that position. I’m confident he will help our younger defensive linemen develop in our program,” added Pierce.

Rebrovich arrived to Ferris State via Concord University in Athens, W.Va., where he was both the Mountain Lions’ defensive line coach and strength & conditioning coordinator for one season (2004) under head coach Greg Quick. In his lone campaign (2004) at the NCAA Division II institution, Concord compiled a 5-6 overall record and finished tied for third place in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) at 4-3.

Prior to his one-year stint at Concord, Rebrovich was the defensive line coach for four seasons (2000-03) at his alma mater SUNY Cortland State University in Cortland, N.Y. As a member of head coach Dan MacNeill’s staff, Rebrovich played a role in helping the Red Dragons post a 9-2 overall mark which represented the most wins at the school since 1990 to go along with the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northwest title.

As a collegian at SUNY Cortland State, Rebrovich competed two years (1998-99) in football and received the team’s Iron Man Trophy in his senior season. Rebrovich, who received his bachelor’s degree in sports management from SUNY Cortland State in 2000, spent two seasons (1996-97) in the junior college ranks at Alfred (N.Y.) State College and served as team captain during the 1997 campaign.

A 1996 graduate of Clarence (N.Y.) High School, Rebrovich was a four-year (1992-96) football letterwinner. He also participated two years each in both ice hockey (1992-93) and baseball (1995-96). The Buffalo, N.Y. native also was involved in track for one season (1994).

The son of Gary Rebrovich and Laura Newell-Pilarski, Rebrovich has a younger sister (Courtney).

He’s a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and resides in Big Rapids.
