The honor marks the second straight season in which the senior wideout has received D2Football.com All-America Honorable Mention honors. He was tabbed a first-team All-Northwest Region member by D2Football.com in November 2005.
Brewster, who recently was named to Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-Northwest Region Third Team, has been chosen as an Associated Press (AP) Little All-America Second-Team selection along with being an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America pick.
A two-time (2004-05) first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honoree, Brewster is scheduled to compete in the sixth annual Whataburger Cactus Bowl Division II All-Star Game on Jan. 6, 2006 in Kingsville, Texas.
Brewster, the Bulldogs’ leading receiver the past three seasons, was on the receiving end of a team-best 60 passes for 921 yards and seven TD’s in 11 games for the 2005 campaign. He put together five 100-yard plus receiving-game efforts this past fall, highlighted by a season-high 137 yards and two TD’s on eight grabs against Northern Michigan (10/15). His 921-yard receiving total was the 10th highest single-season total in Ferris’ history. A two-time (2004-05) FSU Most Valuable Offensive Skill Player Award recipient, Brewster finished 36th among the final 2005 NCAA Division II national leaders in receiving yards per game (83.7 ypg.), 46th in receptions per game (5.5 avg.), and 98th in all-purpose yards (107.7 ypg.).
Brewster concluded a stellar career at Ferris by ranking as the school’s second all-time leading receiver with 3,184 career receiving yards and 25 TD’s on 234 receptions in 43 outings. He placed fifth on the conference’s career receiving yardage leaders chart with 2,923 yards on 213 grabs in league encounters only. A 2004 All-America Honorable Mention pick by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette and D2Football.com, Brewster finished third among the program’s career leaders chart in kickoff returns (1,197 yds.), fourth in punt returns (588 yds.), fifth in all-purpose yards (5,029 yds.), and eighth in scoring (164 pts.).
