The post-season accolades continue for Ferris State University senior outside linebacker Kevin Myers (Midland), who was recently selected to the 2004 FBC Associated Press’ (AP) Little All-America Team.
The Associated Press Little All-America team annually recognizes the top players from all institutions at the Division II and III levels along with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). A total of 75 student-athletes were recognized for the honor with 25 members apiece on the first team, second team and third team. Along with Myers, first-team members from other Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC)-member institutions included offensive linemen Joe Berger of Michigan Tech and Saginaw Valley State’s Todd Herremans along with defensive lineman Keyonta Marshall of Grand Valley State and Northwood defensive back Martell Foster. Grand Valley State kicker Scott Greene was a third-team selection.

| Post-season honors continue for Ferris State's Kevin Myers, who was named to the FBC Associated Press Little All-America Team for the second consecutive season. |
Myers, who will be participating in the fifth annual Whataburger Cactus Bowl Division II All-Star Game this January 7, is the second Ferris State player to earn AP Little All-America kudos more than once joinin All-America flanker Clarence Coleman (2000-01). With Myers’ selection, FSU has now 12 times in its program’s history had a player receive AP All-America Team(s) accolades since 1963.
This season, Myers was a repeat (2003-04) pick on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team as the two-time (2003-04) All-GLIAC First-Team honoree was chosen an All-Northwest Region First-Team member by both D2Football.com and Daktronics, Inc.
Myers compiled a team second-place 133 total tackles (83 solos) this fall as an 11-game starter which ranks 19th best among Ferris State’s single-season tackles leaders. He also chipped in with seven tackles for 19 yards lost, which included a pass sack for minus six yards, to go with two pass interceptions, seven pass breakups and a forced fumble. The 2004 FSU Most Valuable Player and two-time (2003-04) Most Valuable Defensive Player Skill Award recipient, turned in seven double-digit tackle game performances this season, including a career-leading 26 stops (15 solos) in the season opener (8/28) versus Grand Valley State. Myers finished ninth among the final 2004 NCAA Division II statistical leaders in solo stops (6.5 avg.) and 15th in total tackles (11.5 avg.).
A season ago, the 2003 AFCA and Associated Press First-Team All-American generated both a career-best and conference-high 141 tackles (87 solos) in 11 games, which was the most by a Ferris State player since 1996 and the 13th highest total among the school’s single-season all-time leaders.
Myers, who garnered over 100 tackles in each of his last three seasons, completed his career with 435 tackles (257 solos) in 42 games which marked the fifth-highest output in Ferris State history and was one stop shy of tying for fourth place. The 5-11, 210-pound linebacker also accumulated 23 career double-digit game tackle efforts.
Ferris State posted a 6-5 overall record this season with a fifth-place 5-5 conference ledger as the Bulldogs registered their third winning season in the last four seasons.
