The Ferris State University football team in conjunction with the FSU Gridiron Club will conduct their 22nd annual Bulldog “Lift-A’Thon” fundraising event this Friday evening (March 26) in Jim Wink Arena of the Convocation Center on the Ferris State campus.
The Bulldog Football Lift-A-Thon, which starts at 6:30 p.m. (EST) and is open free of charge to the public, represents the primary fund raiser for the FSU football program. The funds raised from the event will be utilized in maintaining the essential elements necessary to operate a competitive NCAA Division II football program in one of the nation’s top conferences. Proceeds will go towards maintaining current student-athlete scholarships, recruitment of new student-athletes, improvement within the weight training facilities, and assistance in the financing of spring drills and early fall practice camp. The goal for this year’s event is to raise over $20,000 for the 22nd consecutive year.
The Lift-A-Thon, which began in 1982, operates under the FSU Gridiron Club and every dollar contributed to the Lift-A-Thon will go directly to benefit the Bulldog football program through the Gridiron Club. Furthermore, donations of at least $25 will qualify an individual for Gridiron Club membership benefits.
Current members along with a football alumni representative will compete in the bench press. Pledges can be made on a per-pound basis or on a flat dollar rate donation based upon how much weight a participant can successfully bench.
Pledges or payment (checks) may be made out to Ferris State University and mailed to the following address: Football Office, Sports Complex 114, 210 Sports Drive, Big Rapids, Mich. 49307-2741.
For more information and/or to make a donation to the Lift-A-Thon event, contact FSU football assistant coach Matt McCarthy at (231) 591-2865 or via e-mail at mccarthm@ferris.edu.
