Ferris State Lands Two On 2001 Football Gazette All-America Team

Clarence Coleman Honored as Most Valuable Receiver for Second Straight Year

Senior flanker Clarence Coleman (Miami, Fla.) of the Ferris State University football team added to his list of 2001 postseason honors after being selected the 2001 Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division II's Most Valuable Receiver for the second consecutive year. Coleman, who also received first-team All-America recognition for the second straight season, joined junior defensive end Bo Moore (Montrose) as the lone FSU representatives to attain All-America honors by the publication. Moore was named to the honorable mention team.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) featured 16 representatives on the publication's four All-America teams.

The NCAA-II all-time leader in career pass receptions (323) and receiving yards (4,983), Coleman has been selected to virtually every 2001 postseason All-America First Team - American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), D2Football.com, Daktronics, Inc., and The Associated Press.

Coleman was among nine national finalists for the 2001 Harlon Hill Trophy as the NCAA-II College Football Player of the Year and finished fifth overall with 52 points in the final balloting. He's scheduled to compete in the 2002 Whataburger Cactus Bowl Division II All-Star Game Friday, Jan. 11, which will be held at Texas A&M University-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas.

Coleman, who holds 11 school career and single-season records, totaled 11 double-figure reception games and 27 100-yard plus receiving single-game performances in his career. A 2001 All-GLIAC First-Teamer, Moore placed third among the team's tackle leaders with a personal career-best 68 stops (47 solos) in 11 contests.
