FSU Athletics Development

The Ferris State University Bulldogs are known throughout the state of Michigan and across the nation for their commitment to success in competition and academic excellence. Ferris offers an intercollegiate athletic program which includes 14 men’s and women’s sports at the NCAA Division II level as well as Division I men's ice hockey. Year in and year out, nearly 400 student-athletes have the opportunity to compete for the Bulldogs on a regional and national level for conference titles and NCAA Championships.

What is the purpose of athletics?

At Ferris, the intercollegiate athletics program is based on sound educational principals and practices, is a proper part of the educational mission of the university and has the educational welfare of the participating student-athletes as a primary concern. The Ferris State Athletics Department recognizes its responsibility to the institution as a highly visible public relations tool and embraces this role. Success creates an environment supported by an enthusiastic student body and provides the opportunity for Ferris alumni and friends to support a winning program.

Why should I support Ferris Athletics?

In order to maintain this championship-level of athletics, your support is necessary. Each year, universities across the country rely more heavily on private contributions from people like you to keep pace with the escalating costs of higher education. At Ferris, we hope you will choose to support the athletic program so Bulldog student-athletes can continue to build on their success. Donors can support areas such as scholarships, facility projects, team travel, operational costs, and endowments. Your investment will do much more than produce victories. You will also be helping young men and women to be winners in the game of life after graduation.

Every gift helps Ferris State Bulldog student-athletes excel. Make your gift online now!

GIVING BACK TO FSU!

Former Ferris State football player David Whalen was honored during the Bulldogs' recent home game against Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 16, 2006). Whalen is believed to be the oldest living former FSU football player and his children have established the David D. Whalen Scholar-Athlete Endowed Scholarship to aid student-athletes. In this photo, Whalen is joined by FSU President David Eisler, Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic and numerous members of his family. Visit the link below for a local article published by the Big Rapids Pioneer.

Tom Kirinovic"Creating great athletic programs takes teamwork from coaches, student-athletes, loyal fans and donors like yourself. The Ferris State Athletics Department is proud to be considered one of the top programs in the GLIAC, CCHA, and nationally on a yearly basis. This would not be possible without your financial support. You can be assured that our expectations are for student-athletes to excel both in the classroom and in their athletic venue in a manner that will make all Bulldog fans proud. The excellence we strive to achieve requires your financial support in order to provide our student-athletes with the necessary tools to be successful. Our staff will continue to strive for excellence both on and off the fields of competition. Thank you for supporting us in those efforts! Remember - It's a GREAT day to be a Bulldog!"
Tom Kirinovic, FSU Athletics Director
